A Sneak Peek
Here's a sneak peek at my new series. As usual, it's NSFW.




Black Velcro® hooks on foam-core.
19 x 28 inches.

The image is only visible at specific angles, appearing as a solid, black rectangle from other view points.

This is the first in a series of mixed-media works showing friends and acquaintances performing fellatio on the artist (um... me). It's an experiment in interpersonal and social boundaries.

The idea for this project has been kicking around in my head for a couple of years, but I keep losing my nerve. In finally executing it, I am attempting overcoming my fear of rejection and facing the consequences of bold (or unconventional) choices.

I wonder how many people will think I'm just a creep, asking for blow-jobs in the name of art...

Im curious how you created this? Did you start with a photograph, what was the process?

I start by taking a series of photos, with high-contrast lighting and exposure. I pick out the best one, take it into Photoshop and push the contrast as far as it will go. The resulting image is used as the basis for a line-drawing.

From there, I cut out pieces of industrial Velcro and lay the strips down to make the image.

I have to admit I'm more than a bit surprised that Angie gave you permission to do this for your art. Strange things wives let their husbands do in the name of art. I have to ask would you allow her to do the same if she so desired?

Ps: why on earth would you have felt uncomfortable about doing this? I mean you being married, I get the potential negative consequences that could result, but last I checked you're certainly not one to be shy!

Of all of your work that I've seen, I'll admit I prefer the less obvious than the "in your face" gentalia and nudity works because they can be perceived in different ways and not everyone will get it. It may just be viewing this on my sidekick, but it appears that this is one of those more subtle ones. I dunno I guess I'm weird because in general I don't find looking at genatalia (male or female) appealing.

Thanks, yeah this one is VERY subtle... from some angles it looks like a solid, black rectangle.

Of course he has my permission to use me in his art, silly.

Also, it think that's the nature of living with artists, and vice versa,
and we'll continue to use each other as reference and inspiration. :)

Larry and I work with total openness and honesty.
I don't care what society expects from our relationship,
it's what ever makes the two of us happy. ;p
